Alka Yagnik Through The Years
A playlist featuring the voice of Bollywood heroines since 1980

Alka Yagnik has been singing for close to 4 decades! That’s right. Almost 40 years of singing some of the most memorable songs ever! As we welcome her to the Gaana Music Festival this year, let us give you a sense of what that career timeline truly means. Here’s a specially curated list of tracks spanning her incredible career starting 1980. Putting this list together was amongst the hardest things we could have ever done!
1) Gazab Ka Hai Din (Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, 1988)
Iconic movie. Iconic soundtrack. A fresh faced innocent Juhi Chawla and the sweet voice of Alka Yagnik for this song was a match made in heaven. If listening to this doesn’t make you smile, we have no idea what will! In an exclusive interview with Gaana Music Festival (coming soon!) Alka told us this is one of her favourite soundtracks of all time.
9) Bole Chudiyan (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, 2001)
Basically when Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan sing together, it is perfection. And Bole Chudiyan is the epitome of that. Vibrant and melodious, this is the go-to song for everything from dance competitions to weddings and sangeets.
10) Agar Tum Saath Ho (Tamasha, 2015)
She may not be singing as much in the last few years, but let no one doubt she’s still got that magic in her voice. This soulful number from Tamasha was the stand-out song of 2015 and on loop everywhere. Many feelings WILL be felt with this one.
